Tai Chi students will be practicing Push Hands.
Push Hands 推手 (Tuī Shǒu) is a reactive skill, involving two people trying to off-balance each other using Taiji principles.
We primarily practice Yang Style Fixed Step.
Using size or strength to overpower an opponent with muscular force is not in alignment with Taiji principles; as such, our Push Hands is slow, gentle, and beginner-friendly.
We build up with cooperative drills and eventually progress to more competitive matches. The goal of our Push Hands is to make sure we understand how are Taiji postures work in a practical way, helping us to strengthen our structure, body awareness, and sensitivity to our partner.
It is beginner-friendly and open to all Tai Chi and Kung Fu students.
